Simplify3D doesnt see the model as one

Mon Oct 28, 2019 5:37 am

Hey,

Im new to the whole 3D printing scene so i definetly dont know what ive done wrong here.

On both sofrware i used the exact same model. I added the pins on meshmixer.
Cura slices the model as one but Simplify3D sees the pin and the model as two separete models. Why and how can i fix it?

This looks like it is more than likely caused by self-intersecting surfaces in the model but could you please post a Factory File so we could look into this further?

This is a (well) known issue with S3D that can be worked around very, very simply...which is why S3D have never done anything to stop it happening in the first place...hint, hint!

On the Mesh menu is an option "Separate Connected Surfaces". Tick the option. Issue resolved!

You will then have to be careful about moving the parts around on the bed....as the one part will now be at least two parts.
