Print time is too inaccurate

I've been using Simplify3D for a couple years now and I know the "build time" that is displayed after pressing the "prepare to print" button has always been inaccurate. But now, for me, this is more of a problem since I need good calculations for my business.

I just ran a print that said build time is 1 hour 35 minutes. So I set an alarm on my phone for 1h 35m later. Alarm goes off, I check the print, and the printer is displaying that it is 70% done. I look at the print and it does look about 70% complete.

The build time does seem to change based on changing the variables, such as extrusion width. So clearly there is some sort of build time calculator in the software, but it is still inaccurate.

My question is, why do we keep having these build time disparities in this software?

Is the solution still to add 25% to 30% more time to each "build time" that is displayed?
