Commands for Extruder are Backwards

I just recently bought a new dual gear extruder for my printer and I went about setting the steps/mm. When I tested the extruder by hitting the extrude 100 button on Simplify it worked fine. But when I typed the command G1 E100 F100 the extruder ran backwards. I then check the extrude 100 button again and it sent the command G1 E100 F300 and it worked fine again. I am at a loss. Has anyone had this problem and can help me?

Re: Commands for Extruder are Backwards

Does your new extruder rotate into the same direction (clockwise/CCW) as the old one to push material into the hotend?

Depending on the printer you might also have to adjust this accordingly in the firmware settings (invert axis).

Not saying you're using one of those old extruders, just an image to illustrate this:

Left one -> clockwise, right one -> counterclockwise

Same can be true for dual gear/drive extruders, depending on orientation/layout:

Looking at the filament path here it looks like:

Left one -> counterclockwise, right one -> clockwise

I am having the same issue and I'm tired of taking the extruder apart to fix this
