Crash due to special characters

Hello,

I have faced this problem several times:

When I have used any models with special characters in their filenames (I live in Germany, so many words have "Umlaut" like ä, ö, ü), then on next startup I get an error message "Failed to parse XML file" and all settings are reset to default, no model is imported and all processes I have configured are lost.

I would greatly appreciate if this could be fixed.

Here's some reading on the forum abut this.....complete with ways to recover from the problem without reinstalling or losing lots of settings, etc.
