Support "Extra inflation" prints in air

Hello,

when I use "extra inflation distance" > 0 the support structure is extended but there is nothing to support the inflated part.

If I recall it right this was different in an earlier release, right? I think some time ago these inflated supports were extended down to the build platform or to the next lower surface. Or am I wrong about that?

Yep. You're wrong about that! This has been the behavior for a very long time.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about this overhanging extra support. Just print it!. You'll get good support where you want it.....and a bit of distorted extra support is nothing to be concerned about.

I'd even wind back the extra inflation quite a lot. You don't really need all that support for a simple flat overhang.....just a 1 or 2 mm column at 50% added manually at each or the corners , with another half way along for good measure will suffice. Topped wit one layer at 100% just for good measure!
