Re: Windows 10 USB Connection Question

I'm back to printing USB and so far it's been solid. I've seen it before though. Print for a few weeks fine and then it starts pausing again. Very strange. So far so good though.

I use S3D exclusively, and I cannot print over USB.

A friend introduced me to Makerware, and just for fun I attempted to print over USB.

It worked!!!!!!

This is the same computer, same everything.

The only conclusion I can come to is that it is a bug in S3D.

Windows 10 x64. Fully patched.

About a month ago I elected to go to a wireless printing setup because of this issue. I don't know if there is a fix for it yet or not. I did not want to lose the power of S3D (I'm hooked on it). The solution I implemented uses a Raspberry Pi 3 following the directions in the link below. For about $60 worth of parts all from SparkFun.com, the Pi 3 replaces my laptop and I still get to use all the power of S3D. You just set up the models in S3D, create a gcode file, and transmit the file to the Pi 3 connected to the printer's USB using OctoPrint. I'm now hooked on this too! All required software links are in the short directions at the link below. Project took less than a couple hours. Thingiverse.com has an STL to print a case for the Pi 3.

Just wanted to say thanks for the person who posted about the USB power turn off after 20 minutes.

upgraded my shop computer to Windows 10 so i can run Solidworks on it. had XP before and ran everything just fine including my CNC mill.

after upgrade prints just stuttered halfway through prints and never had a problem before. I could use an SD card but i run a business and want all the bells and whistles not just a file transfer.

Turning off the power saving worked, now i can get back to work. what dork thought turning off USB ports on a desktop would be a good idea?

Thanks again, and as someone new to this forum i really like the adultness i have seen so far.
