Unnecessary Bridging?

Simplify3D is printing a bridge for no reason. It's not part of the STL file. See attached file. I tried it on two different computers, and it's still creating a bridge in the middle of the piece. Anyone have a way to fix this?

Re: Unnecessary Bridging?

There appears to be issues with the mesh. Running the .stl through the online model repair service ( https://netfabb.azurewebsites.net/ ) cures the problem.

Repaired .stl attached.

I had this Issue last week. If repairng the file doesn't work, set de first layer height at the original setting: 90%
This is weird but it work for me when I printed de Klots shoes ties on thingiverse

Re: Unnecessary Bridging?

I'm trying to print this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:12862 but S3D is adding bridging in places for no apparent reason. I don't see any problems with the model. I pulled the model into meshmixer and checked for errors as well as played with "make solid", but it didn't change anything. Other slicers don't seem to have an issue with the model... S3D seems to be sensitive to something triggering unintended bridging.

Well you're not looking properly!!!

Attached are corrected shape files for this item.

When will some realise that a good proportion of free-to-download shape files are basically crap!

Thanks! May I ask what you used to inspect / fix the model? (Was it netfabb?)

As I mentioned, running it through Meshmixer analysis and "make solid" didn't seem to change anything.
Also repairing normals and flipped triangles in S3D did not seem to find anything.

Here's a wonderful advantage of using Windows10...…..so the BG haters are disadvantaged!

In Win10 there's a utility called 3D Builder. On loading an stl file, it auto checks if there's any issues and prompts for permission to rectify them.....and it does! You then simply do a Save as" in the 3mf file format...and S3D will load and slice!

Cool. I have Win 10 in a VM, I'll give that a try :) Thanks.

Thanks, but the ones you sent still have an extraneous bridging inside the "mouthpiece" component.

I'll try the win 10 utility and see if I can figure something out.
