Re: Print from SD card / Makerbot Rep 2

I updated my firmware to Sailfish and the problem went away. Kind of drastic solution, I know...

There is a long standing bug in MBI's firmware. The bug and fix was reported to MBI but they've chosen to not fix it. It is fixed in Sailfish which is why upgrading to Sailfish solves the issue. Alternatively, you can comment out all the M70, M71, and M72 gcode commands and thus avoid triggering the bug.

For more information on Sailfish, see

http://jettyfirmware.yolasite.com/features.php

Installation and setup directions are hosted by MBI at

http://makerbot.com/sailfish/install/
http://makerbot.com/sailfish/setup/

And note that MBI does support bots running Sailfish.

Re: Print from SD card / Makerbot Rep 2

I have an stl file on a sd card. When I import into Simplify it goes directly to the Save To Disk page. When I want to make any changes, it goes to the Preview page and its blank (no file). I can't even go back to the Save to Disk Page. How do I make changes to the STL file if Its not visible?

I think what you're trying to say is that you have a gcode file on an SD card, and when you load it into S3D, it shows on the slicing preview page....which is exactly what should happen.

Unfortunately you can't reverse slice a gcode file back into a stl file...at least not with S3D.

All is not lost. Makeprintable.com have a gcode to stl reverser service.
