When I change tools in S3D, I get the 2mm Z-lift per my retraction settings, but I
don't get the 8mm retraction per my retraction settings, so I get bad stringing right before every tool change. My entire tool change script is
T[new_tool]. This problem occurs whether or not
Force retraction between layers is enabled.
Here's the gcode that's being generated:
Code: Select all
G1 E0.0000 F360
G1 Z2.600 F12000
; layer 4, Z = 0.6
T0 ; Change tool
; prime pillar
G1 X-8.041 Y-40.551 F12000
G1 Z0.600 F12000
G1 E0.0000 F360
...........
G1 E0.0000 F360
G1 Z2.900 F12000
; layer 6, Z = 0.9
T1 ; Change tool
; tool H0.300 W0.400
; prime pillar
G1 X10.559 Y-40.551 F12000
G1 Z0.900 F12000
G1 E0.0000 F360
It's as if it
meant to do a retraction, only it decided to do a zero length (E0.0000), very slow (F360) retraction. A normal retraction from this same gcode looks like:
Code: Select all
G1 E-8.0000 F6000
G1 Z2.600 F12000
G1 X-7.988 Y-40.431 F12000
G1 Z0.600 F12000
G1 E8.0000 F6000
I could deal with it not retracting, except it
does do the 2mm Z lift, so I get an unwanted thick string right before every tool change.
How can I make it either do a proper retraction or stop doing a partial retraction?
