Re: If Simplify 3D version 2.1.0 is CRASHING when you "Prepa

I've also had the same 2.1.0 crash on Prepare when using Random Start Points on Mac 10.9.2.

I'll continue using Cura and Kisslicer for now - you only get one crash per version. I'm no longer in the SW debugging business, and haven't got time for this.

Sadly, I must agree: going back to Kisslicer.
I am suffering crashes when I am trying to save the Gcode of large prints.
Will use S3D just for small jobs.

S3D is crashing for me regardless of profile selected, settings changed, or .stl file used. Anytime I hit Prepare print, the program stops and must be closed. It is set to print to a LeapFrog Creatr dual. Version 2.1, running on 64 bit Windows 7 home premium.

Crashing on "Prepare to Print!" for me as well with "Use random start points for all perimeters" turned ON as well. Locks up, have to restart the program.. Using Windows 7 (64 bit) with FlashForge Creator Dual.. :(

I have been suffering the same problem when attempting to prepare for printing - I get a popup program exception advising that Windows is going to try to find a solution, which then aborts.

The problem appears to have been fixed by turning off the random start points as advised above. v2.1.

I have the same bug.
A tip is to exit the program before hitting prepare. If it crashes you just need to start the program again. It starts automatic with the last loaded objects and settings.
So you don't have to load the objects and placements again.

Also had this crashing issue on some files and on one machine in particular it was all the time when i hit the build no matter the settings. I resolved this is by changing the video drivers on that laptop. If you have a laptop or machine with Intel HD3000 based video controllers, make sure you have the absolute latest driver installed for it. In my case the laptop was Acer 5755 I7, Acer driver provided for video from their site caused crashing, the update from Intel site fixed it.

here is my crash report, the key here is the DLL file ig4icd64.dll which is the video driver.

To be honest NO software program should fail catestrophically due to some shortcoming in the users hardware/software environment. An error such as this should be caught and dealt with gracefully - not by dumping the user out to the operating system.

From the popup dialog that appears this bug appears to be captured by the operating system. That's too late - the user might have wanted to save their work or something. It's kinda like your car putting up a message that you need to apply the brakes - after you've hit the brick wall.

I'm sure the resolution to this (e.g. extra error trapping) will be easy enough for the author.

naturally i had these crashes also. (why else would i reply)
I tried every recommended setting, but the only thing that helped me, was updating the video-driver(s)
Win7-64 with Intel HD Graphic 3000 . After updating driver, no more crashes.

Thnx ! :D
