Hi all-
I am struggling to get engraved text to print nicely. I can not tell if its a modeling issued or S3D setting issue. I have gone through the Print quality troubleshooting tips sticky and tried changing a bunch of settings, but nothing I seem to change seems to have any effect.
Anyone have any tips on things like font height, relief depth or stroke width for engraved lettering?
How realistic is the print rendering in S3D? Are there things that are not going to show up properly or is the representation EXACT?
I think I am going to have to adjust my model to get better results, but I want to get a descent starting point by better understanding the limitations of S3D.
1. I am getting incomplete infill in some areas-- like not even touching the perimeter outlines.
2. There are small areas between letters that dont ever fill. The spacing between characters right now is less than an extrusions width so I think I have to fix that to get speration of letters.
3. Infill lines do not seem to change in either proportion or size in the preview no matter what things I change-- Infill widths or overlap distances.
4. If I try to print it upside down, so that the text is part of the first layer, the first later settings for height and width do not seem to have any effect in the preview. I should be able to do either way right?
Here are snips of settings and model/S3D preview.
Thanks in advance
