Poor Print Quality with Random Start Points

Hello,

I've been struggling with prints having seriously ugly gaps at the start point of outer perimeter layers and very rough inner layers. Tried adjusting print temps, speeds, retraction, restart distance, different filament etc. with nothing having a direct impact on the problem.

Turns out "Layer>Use random start points for all perimeters" is the culprit. When I changed this to "Choose start point closest to specific location" and specifying a location near the perimeter, the print came out perfect.

Attached photos are two test prints. The ONLY difference is random vs. specific start points. Is this a bug or am I using this setting improperly? I would like to use random start point to avoid a raphe down the side of the object.

Thanks

Re: Poor Print Quality with Random Start Points

When you move to random start points all over the model, it will require longer movements, which can create oozing and other quality issues. So it isn't surprising that the random start points may cause these printing issues.
