infill problem 4.0x.

Mon Jan 15, 2018 1:24 pm

I get empty lines in my prints now. mostly on solid infill. Does not matter if i lower the extrusion width.
I get it on all my recent printd. Don't know if i have screwed some setting up or if it is a bug.
attached a pic to show. Should add that it does so on opposite side also and that it is very visible on the print.

Its likely to be an infill setting that needs adjusting.....but without knowing what the settings were that produced the above example, its hard to say what setting(s) need changing. A factory file would be a great help......

Well, i am using my settings from pre 4.0 and they come when using 4.x. I don't think i should have to go through all my settings for every update to the software..

ÅI will run some more and see what happens.

I found the problem. I think it is a bug in calculation of width when "external infill angle offsets" are set to 0 and 90 degree instead of -45 and 45.

i loaded an old preset that did draw and print correct, and compared it to the new one i got problems with.
This was the only thing i foun differing, and when i change back to -45 and 45 it is ok.
BUT i noticed the error followed "extrusion width", so if ext width was set to "auto" it showed the missing lines, but if i lowered to .69 (running 0.6 nozzle)
it "looked ok".

I attach factory of the error preset.

I know you will disagree vehemently with me over this....but this is NOT a bug!

For example...
Infill width 0.5mm
Available width for infill of say 2.04mm
Infill outline overlap of 10% max...i.e. 0.05mm

The infill will be 40 extrusions with a gap of 0.04mm. With the max outline overlap set at 10%, the slicer CANNOT place another extrusion.....therefore a gap each side. Change the infill outline overlap to 50%, then the slicer can now place an extra two extrusions, each overlapping the perimeter extrusion....NO GAP!

For your factory file, increase the outline overlap to anything over 40%...and NO GAP!

This is how the software is designed to work......

You are right!!!
You must go through all your settings for every PRINT, doing this after an update (rarely enough) is not needed.

Do you really mean that all settings are available until doomsday?

Few have actually posted the fact on the forum, but settings needed to be tweaked after v4 to take into account the very subtle changes in processing introduced by the enhancements.

Raft separation distance is one setting thet stands out for me. I had to adjust from appx 0.08 down to 0.02 to ensure the printed part didn't escape whilst being printed!

And, of course, the new settings needed to be set to what I wanted...single wall setting, for example!

ok, but i have not had this "problem" with pre 4.x versions. I have never seen it and i have tried everything i think.
And pre 4.0 does work without the gap showing and same material preset.
And it is NOT some small itsy tiny extrude that does not show.
