Manual Z jog error

I just noticed that, while I am in the Machine Control Panel, clicking on either up or down controls (+Z or -Z) for a 0.1mm movement, the nozzle always goes UP, away from the bed. This doesn't happen for any of the other incremental moves. Is this an error with the software? Printer works fine in all other regards.

Re: Manual Z jog error

If you look in the Communication tab of the machine control panel, you can see what commands it is sending. That makes it pretty easy to verify if it is sending the correct commands to jog up or down. Then you can decide if perhaps the firmware is responding incorrectly to those commands (or maybe a hardware issue..)

Re: Manual Z jog error

OK, the S3D communications echo the correct commands. But, now I recognize that the downward mechanical movement is only giving and extremely small movement at the -Z 0.10 command. Software still is responding properly. Suggestions? Thanks.

Well if the software is sending the correct commands, then it may be a hardware issue. Perhaps backlash or a slipping pulley.
