My experience is that the firmware and profile instructions are not very easy to use and that you are more or less forced into upgrading all components to get things running. (links to older versions you might want to use are removed)
Yes I agree. I am using a MAC and there is no current firmware update software for this.
I don't mind having to update firmware/software if it gives us further benefits. It is nice to know that ZYYX are still innovating, just need to give us more information/tutorials on making full use of these changes, especially the new multi material/colour printing. The video provided just scrapes the surface I think.
I still think this is a wonderful printer compared to the others available. The automated bed levelling makes printing so easy and reliable, just select print and walk away.
Hope this reply --- long after the initial post --- doesn’t miss the bandwagon. I’m new to this forum but have had a ZYYX for nearly a year. Although a Mac user, I have succeeded in upgrading my ZYYX Firmware to V3 by borrowing a Windows 7 laptop from a friend. The process was fairly smooth should anyone like to hear about it.
My other 3D printing interests are: (1) multi-material projects, from the simplest case where each layer is a single color (or material) to the more complex case where several colors (or materials) coexist on the same layer, and (2) completing a duct system to pipe printer exhaust out my study window when using filaments other than PLA.
I had hoped to collaborate with 3D printer-owners (of ANY brand) in my small town, but, failing in that, this forum might help fill the void. It would truly be a pleasure to hear from other ZYYX / Simplify3D owners.
