Help setting up dual extruder on RepRap

I'm trying to setup dual extrusion on Simplify3D on my custom RepRap. I've followed the tutorial and assigned each process appropriately. However, whenever I go back to the first process, which is only assigned to one half of the model, as it should be, it's defaulting to the second tool, even if I select the first one. So when it generates the code there's no tool change. Anyone else run into this? Or is there something I'm missing on the tool change code side? I've gone back through the configuration assistant, selected RepRap with 2 extruders, made no difference.

Re: Help setting up dual extruder on RepRap

import hte models and set up the processes and then go to File > Save Factory File As and then upload the factory file here. It'll give us a good indication on how your profiles are set up and see what's causing htis

Re: Help setting up dual extruder on RepRap

Repeat this for each process:
  1. Look at the following FFF settings tabs: layer, additions, infill, and support.
  2. They each have extruder selects within them.
  3. Select the extruder you want the selected process to use.
  4. Select the models you wish to print with the presently being edited process

Re: Help setting up dual extruder on RepRap

hiya,

I would suggest to check which profile you started with.

for my wanhao there are 3: dual (right), dual (left) and dual (both)

i couldn't say which one in their vaste list you'd use but I found that when selecting on of the above profiles it sets the script up for that profile.

so when I use dual (right), the start code will refer to the right extruder and that's where your problem may lie.

hope this helps
