Why is that my first layer of my raft goes down so darn well. But if I try to print without using a raft the first layer doesn't even stick to the bed?? I am using a heated PEI bed. Anyway I can utilize some of the settings for the first layer of the Raft for the first layer of a normal print with say a brim?

first layer is all in the bed to nozzle gap. rapt first layer is usually printed thick and heavy which makes it less finicky. turn the raft off, set your first layer height and width to 100%. make sure your gcode offsets are all to zero then set the z stop on the printer to give you a gap of .006". print something. tune it from there. if the edges of lines dont touch then adjust the bed closer. if the lines are squished the increase the gap. the first layer should be dead on the money. its a very precise adjustment. use a feeler gauge to measure the gap. many print companies tell you a sheet of paper or a business card. thats a bunch of crap. those are not any kind of measuring standard. the thickness of both of those could be anything.

Time to buy some feeler gauges
