I am trying out the software and I am having trouble getting the program to recognize the printer.
I have an old Dell laptop running Ubuntu 12.04. Pronterface finds the printer on /dev/ttyUSB0 automatically. Creator can't find the printer even after I refresh the port list. It doesn't matter if I try it before or after running pronterface.
I am sure it is just a Linux config issue but I am brand new to Linux so I don't know where to start.
Can anyone help me?

Interesting. I use Linux Mint 13 (LTS) / Cinnamon, which is a Ubuntu derivative. When I plug in my M2 on USB, it creates port /dev/ttyACM0. I have refresh, aim Creator at that port, plus I have to set myself up as a member of the "dialout" group in order to get read/write access to the port. Try starting Creator as superuser / root. If you can connect, then it's a permission issue. See who owns the port (probably root) and what group(s) has/have access to read/write and add your username to that group.

I tried Superuser/root and it didn't make any difference.

Well I guess Simplfy3d doesn't seem to care about my problem so they won't be getting my $125

I'd be happy to offer a few suggestions if you are still having problems connecting. For starters, what electronics and firmware are you using with your printer? When you connect to the board using any of these other programs, does the board actually reset? For example, if you are using the Marlin firmware, when the board resets it lists off about 20 lines of information about the firmware, various settings, etc. When you connect in these other programs, do you see any similar output that makes you think the board is being reset with the new serial connection?
The reason I ask is that there are some lower-end boards that do no support reset via USB. If this is the case, there is actually an additional change required in Creator to connect to them.
