Question about your DRM

What usage restrictions are there with s3d?

Apparently (from other threads) it requires on line activation, but dos it requires permanent Internet connection?

Is it a single machine license (to be installed on one PC only) or a single user license (to be installed on all PC's the user owns)?
If its a single machine license can the license be moved from one PC to another?
And if so, does this also work if the current PC dies (HDD broken no backup), how than the software can be used again with a new PC or new clean OS on old PC.

Is there a test version available? If no how do you handle return requests if user is not satisfied with the product?

And in the case you go bankrupt how can the users continue using their purchased software? Can you guarantee to release a patch to remove any activation requirements in case you close down the activation servers due to whatever reasons?

Many questions...

Re: Question about your DRM

you are allowed up to two simultaneous activations at once. I can easily deactivate one machine in order to activate a new one. I had a hard drive crash once, but after a quick email to support they were able to manualy deactivate it for me

For clarification, if you want official answers to any questions from Simplify3D, then this forum is not the means of asking. This is a community forum, not a support forum.

Re: Question about your DRM

It's licensed to an individual user, but you are allowed to install it on up to 2 different machines that you own. I have it on my high-power desktop and my laptop for mobile use. If you ever need to move it to a new machine, for example if you purchase a new laptop, you can easily relocate the license from within the software. I have used this many times - it's just a simple menu option in the software.

If anything bad happens like your hard drive crashes or computer gets stolen, you can just log in to your Simplify3D account and manually reset the license. This was a new addition they made along with the release of v3.0, so many users might not know about this, but it has already saved me once!

And finally, if for some reason you still need help after trying those two methods above, you can always email their full-time support staff (https://www.simplify3d.com/contact/). I talk with them quite a bit and usually always get a response back within 24 hours. They have been really helpful.

About your other questions, it does require an internet connection the first time you install it, but not after that. However, you will need internet access to download updates or new profiles or things like that. There's no demo, but I believe they take returns for up to 2 weeks if for some reason it isn't working for you.
