Retraction vs Coast at End

Reading threads her on the subject of blobbing and stringing, the general consensus seems to be to make adjustments to the retraction distance.....and I can't remember seeing any recommendations to set and adust the Coast at End setting.

My printer's in the sick bay at the moment awaiting an extruder part from China so I'm not able to do any tests...but what are people's thoughts on the relative merits of these two settings?

Once I get my printer running again, I'm going to be printing a lot of lattice girderwork like in the attached image.....and I'm looking for some tips on tuning the printing of parts where there are lots and lots of very short extrution operations.

ps the attached image shows a simulation with a gash set of settings...so ignore the slicing detail!

Re: Retraction vs Coast at End

Yeah generally I would be adjusting retraction distance and speed to to combat stringing and some blobbing first. Coast I would only use is I was getting blobs at the end of the line and higher retraction settings weren't working. A very small negative restart distance could help with blobs at the beginning of the line, positive if your not getting enough.
