Replicator 2 fanspeed

Is it possible to control the fanspeed on the Replicator 2 ?

If I set the fanspeed to 0, it will not run, but if I set it to 5% or anything else between 0 and 100%, it looks and sound like it run at 100% fanspeed !!

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Re: Replicator 2 fanspeed

The s3g/x3g protocol only allows for enabling or disabling the fan. They don't offer a way to set a variable speed. So because of how the firmware is written, you can only choose fan on or fan off.

Yea, I don't think the makerbot-style printers support anything more than a fan on/off command

Okay. Thanks to both of you for the fast responce

Maybe there is some Makerbot users here on this thread, so I have another question:

Will a Replicator 2 be a (much) better printer with a E3D hotend and a Bondtech extruder ?

I know there is some mechanical work to do, but I think I can handle that.

My experience with the MakerBot Replicator 2 has been that it's very capable of printing NinjaFlex/PLA materials, and it's been extremely reliable. I wouldn't recommend any modifications unless you need to, since it's already a really great machine.

+1 Leave it alone it has one of the best hotheads in it's class, as long as it is set up and maintained properly.
