locked out of resets, have only installed S3D on ONE device

I'm really sick of this.

I've been having this problem off and on for over a year. Despite the software being only installed on one machine, it constantly treats my computer as a new install every time I reboot. I've apparently reset my machine so many times that I can no longer use the website to reset my software.

I'm sick of this. I've had to email about this twice in the last week.

Has Anyone else had this problem?

I believe you should be able to go into your account page at cloud.simplify3d.com/account and reset your devices. Not sure if there is a max number of times you can do it per time period though

Hmm.. I've had S3D installed for a long time and never had this issue. I only had to install it once.

If I were you, I would try to focus on what's causing your computer to keep resetting the S3D installation. Are you re-installing the operating system? I wonder if it's permissions related? If it's truly happening every time you reboot, then you definitely have something wrong. If you don't figure out the root cause, it's only gonna keep being a problem ;)

It was a surface pro 1. I hadn't updated the OS until last week, when I upgraded it to win10. This happened just prior to my upgrade, and again right after.

What. Permissions? What file? If you can tell me what I'm looking for, I can fix it.

Suggestions are what I'm looking for here.

Re: locked out of resets, have only installed S3D on ONE dev

I have sent several messages to support regarding being continually asked to reactivate my SINGLE install of S3D on a Ubuntu 14.04 machine.

Once the devices part of the online dashboard was revealed I thought my problems were over, however I am now getting that I can't reset the activations any more.

And I'm locked out again.

I have an activation on 8/5, and an activation, according to the simplify account page, today.

After Every reboot, the software seems to think my install is brand new.

PLEASE, someone tell me what is going on?

man wish i could help but i have never heard anyone complain of this and ive never seen it happen on my end. since this is some type of rare thing im not too sure how many responses you are going to get. have you tried emailing support directly? [email protected]. dont use their website. some have complained of no response when going that route. send an email.

Their support techs are stumped. They've thrown it to the developers, which means, I guess, for now I have to email them every two reboots.

Re: locked out of resets, have only installed S3D on ONE dev

Hi,

I'm new, installed Simplify3d on my Linux (Mint 17.1) Laptop yesterday and see the same issue: Simplify3D does not appear to have permissions so it cannot write license, prefs and profiles to disk. I did of course run the fix permissions script included, but it did not help. Simplify3D behaves like a brand new install every time it's fired up and requires internet connection to launch, which is bad on a laptop I take along when on the move. That is very annoying and makes the software almost useless, even if it is doing a good job in general.

Has support come up with a solution already?

Best,
Martin
