Prime 2. extruder after printing raft

Hi all

I am using 2 extruders. One for support material (PolySupport) and one for regular PLA.

When printing normally I start with a raft which works fine with only one extruder. But when printing the raft with the right extruder and then switching to the left extruder for the part I have problems.
Because the raft takes an amount of time to complete, the filament in the left extruder slowly drips out, and then when it is time to print the part, the first amount of time printing with the left extruder, nothing comes out.

My question is therefore:
Is it possible to get the printer to move away from the part and prime the left extruder after completing the raft, before starting on the part itself? Maybe with a command in the "Layer Change Script", separating raft-layer from regular layers.

Best regards
Karsten

If you use an ooze shield or a prime pillar, it will automatically prime the second extruder before it is used.

But more important, stop using a raft ;) A brim works much better, is quicker, and requires less plastic.

Thank you for your reply.

I use a raft in this case, because the part has a very large surface directly on the heatbed. And from what I have seen so far, it can be very difficult to remove the part if the surface I so large.

Thank you for the hint on the prime pillar, I will give this a try.

Hah, so you are using a raft to make the part stick less??

If it sticks too much, you can adjust the Z-offset in the software. Go to G-Code tab and increase the Z-axis gcode offset. For example, if you enter 0.1mm it will move the nozzle 0.1mm further away from the bed which makes the first layer stick less.

It's better to adjust the bed position until it's correct than print a raft every time.
