Materials, Processes and Profiles questions

Hi All-

I've been using S3D for a few months now with my Rostock Max V2 and am really enjoying it. However, I don't think I am using the process and profiles correctly. I'll just come right out and ask this decidedly n00bish question: what is the difference between a process and a profile? Is a process a specific application of a profile? Is a profile specific to a print?

Also, is there a source somewhere for preconfigured material settings? Just to get a rough idea? I am looking for the basics: PLA, ABS, PET+, PETG, T Glase, Nylon 618.

Thank you,

-Rev

Re: Materials, Processes and Profiles questions

The profile is the slicing settings for your printer. The process is just the manufacturing process that you use to make the parts on the build platform. You may have multiple processes for more complex builds. The process will typically use your profile settings as a base, but you can make modifications as needed.

If you are just doing simple single-process prints, then you can pretty much think of the profile and the process as the same thing

And yes, judging from your screenshot, I would say that you are using the profiles incorrectly. These videos can help explain things better:
