Raft separation not working properly

Hi all. I'm running version 3.0.2 and have noticed something odd.

When I set the raft separation to say, 2mm (yes I know that's WAY too much but it illustrates the problem), the gap does not change to 2mm but rather only one layer moves to the 2mm position and material is still printed below that line. So I can't really adjust the gap except downward. Prior to version 3.0 I believe this worked as expected. I expect the rest of the model to be printed above that line (above the separation gap).

To illustrate, here are 3 images. The first is a setting of .14mm and the resulting gap in the preview. After changing it to 2mm, only 1 layer (pointed to with the arrow) moved to the 2mm position and the rest of the model stayed put.

This is wrong. I don't expect to have to do other tricks to move the model up. It should print on top of the first layer above the separation. I believe it used to work properly.

Any ideas or opinions? This looks like a bug to me. Thanks!

Re: Raft separation not working properly

I've just read another post with the similar problem.

I'm not buying the "gravity" argument that subsequent layers would be printed below the separation.

Simplify3D is all about control of the process. If subsequent layers are printed below the gap, that's not control. That's a bug.

Re: Raft separation not working properly

I created this post before seeing this other one on the same topic.

Hopefully this gets fixed in the next release.
