I am constantly unplugging, and plugging back in the USB cable on my printer. When I send a large print, I always use SD card print option, start the print via PC as I've usually preheated the bed, then pull the printer USB cable immediately after initiating the print. This ensures the print carries out, and an accidental log-out, or anything for that matter with the USB serial connection does not tamper with, and end the print. I had this happen twice on large prints, and have since always used SD card direct print in my MakerGear M2.
Why I want this feature:
From the printer I cannot see my monitor, but it isn't far away around the corner. Sometimes the printer doesn't sync communication on the first USB plug-in attempt. Though the PC always recognizes the USB plug-in and plays its sound, S3D and the M2 don't always talk--takes another unplug, plug-in (or more). I walk back each time, to check the monitor until confirmation. If S3D made a distinct communication sound upon connect, one could have speaker confirmation of a valid connection without having to travel between them. The reason I do not do it at the computer end where the monitor is, is because I have a USB hub which is extending the working range of the USB cables with more devices attached near the printer.
If I'm doing this, I bet someone else is out there. Even if you didn't have to walk anywhere, a noise might not hurt similar situations where a sound is just quicker to acknowledge.
