Great quality but getting delamination

Hey everyone,

So I have been printing the same object for the last week trying to get the design down and I recently bumped my temperature down to 210 for Black PLA which gave me an amazing first layer compared to when I printed with 220. I dont have adhesion issues printing at 220 but the quality especially on the first layer is not nearly as nice.

The print is done at .6 layer height with a .8 nozzle
Speeds
-default speed of 2700, outline speed of 80%,
-first layer is done at 45%

Would it make any sense to print hotter for the other layers and keep the first layer temperature as it is? Or reduce my cooling for the other layers? Right now I have my fan on during the first layer and throughout the rest at 50%. I really would like to avoid slowing down the print as I feel like im going super slow as it is!

Temps and layer height might be too high. Try dropping layer height and see what happens first.

My understanding is there is a rule of thumb about maximum layer height: for optimal prints, layer height should be no more than 1/2 the nozzle diameter. But it may be ok to go up to 1/2 the layer width, which in some cases can be slightly larger than your nozzle width.

With a .6 layer height on a .8 nozzle, you're not giving yourself much surface area for the layers to adhere.

I would think the higher temps should help adhesion. That said, I'm printing black PLA at 190 with fantastic results (Hatchbox & Foxsmart el-cheapo brands from Amazon).

The only other thing I wonder about is under-extrusion with a partially clogged nozzle/hotend. I had some problems with that last week, but I cleaned the nozzle and hotend and now it's back to running perfectly smoothly.

delamination is common when you go past 50% of the nozzle diameter, you could try to compensate by overextruding, but that has it's own issues.
