I just picked up a used PowerSpec 3d Pro (dual extruder, clone of FF/Makerbot). I am new to 3d printing but not modeling. I realize there is a learning curve involved so I've watched videos and read message boards until my eyes bled. Many times, however, some things just don't make sense until you get your hands dirty.
I did several searches on this forum before posting. While some information seemed hopeful and others seemed to be completely different circumstances, I haven't yet found a solution.
I'm trying to print in ABS and here are my settings:
ABS, 3.00mm (fast quality), 230C bed, 110C extruder (right only, not using left), Wait for preheat checked, raft, generate support (hope that's enough info to go on).
When I copy to SD card and run, the extruder is not heating up. I cannot find a way to manually turn on the extruder preheat from the PS3d. So, I print via USB and the extruder still will not preheat. Sometimes the extruder will heat and not the bed!! One always seems to work but not the other. When I select the gear (tools?), I can see that one of them is ON and one is not. I can select "on" (or is it "set"?) and both will preheat. However, this chains me to printing only from the laptop - something I don't want to do!!
Twice now, it even preheated the left extruder instead of the right!! This is very frustrating!! These are basic, typical settings for ABS printing (+/- 10C). Somehow, even though my settings indicate to preheat both the bed and the extruder nozzle, one fails to do so.
Many of the preheat issues I read were multiple setpoints. Or, they recommended multiple setpoints to "trick" the machine to preheat. I tried this workaround and was still unsuccessful.
Oh, the tools are using different numbers for preheat, I think T0 for right extruder and T2 for the bed (presuming T1 would be left extruder once I begin to use it).
I appreciate any input. I have found a few other issues but wanted to start with this one first.
Thank you!
