Lulzbot Mini - Cura vs Simplify3D

So I picked up Simplify 3D on recommendation of some forums and decided since I was printing some Mendel parts for a friend, I'd try both programs with the default Lulzbot Mini settings.

Here are my results, which I'm not really eager about.

Left: Cura Lulzbot Edition - ABS, High Quality
Right: Simplify3D (Lulzbot Mini Config) - ABS, High Quality

For S3D, I would recommend increasing the "outline overlap percentage" on the Infill tab. That will help close some of those tiny holes you are seeing. I would also add a few more top solid layers to help make that top section more solid.

Also, I would check the option Allow gap fill when necessary on the Advanced tab.

I have the Kittaz upgraded to a Taz 5. I ran with Cura and Kiss for a long time. I picked up S3D a few weeks ago. After getting things dialed in, I find many of the advanced features (multiple processes per part, editing supports and others) indispensable. It's worth putting in time to learn S3D well. In the end, I think you will find it worth the cost.
