Motor problems

Hi, hope someone can lead me in the right direction here.
I recently had a power supply go kaput, and it seemed that it caused other problems with the boards, so I replaced them all, now the motors are not working as they should.
When I press the home buttons on the jog controls I am getting a whistling sound and no movement, when I jog them individually there is sign of movement, this for all Axis.
I thought drivers, but 5 dud ones in one batch, you would have to be unlucky. Hope someone can put a finger on this one. Thanks

Re: Motor problems

It could easily be the board itself. There are components that could affect all motor drivers such as the main board's regulator or processor. It may also be a firmware issue, perhaps trying to use too high of a homing speed.

Re: Motor problems

Sorry to hear about your issues, there are quite a number of possibilities for the issues and to assist a bit of further information would help.

(1) How did the PSU fail ie was there over voltage (+12V or +24) ?
(2) I'm guessing you changed out all of the stepper motor drivers due to the above - did you setup the current drive on the boards (which make / model).
(3) Which make of controller board are you using?
(4) Does it have a heated bed (if so does it work correctly as it's likely to be supplied by the same PSU and may be damaged)
(5) Is it a Cartesian (normal) or Delta
(6) Do the extruders work (don't forget to warm them up to at least 150 degrees before they can run without any filament in.

Hopefully we can get you up and running.

Re: Motor problems

Sorry for the late reply.
The PSU just stopped dueing a print, and it did cause some problems with the boards, so I replaced them, along with the PSU.
So the problem is with the new boards.
But after trying two different PSU's and all the driver boards, still nothing, so the company that supplied them gave me a refund.
So I have ordered new boards from else where, we will see what happens from there. Thanks for your time.
