Sliding print

Hi Folks,

I'm getting familiar with the interface and overall, very happy with how the work flow is with S3d. That's the good news, but I'm also having a problem that's totally mystifying to me. I can print a 20mm cube that's as perfect as you'd want and I've created a 1x4" cylinder that prints perfectly - see my photo. But next to the cylinder you will also see two items that were not as intended.

These were elements in a lcd frame that I downloaded from thingiverse. Two different designers, two different designs, but in both there is a certain amount of printing that is according to design, then there is a steady slide in both the x and y axis. I do not believe there is any mechanical problem with the printer as it printed the forms I designed perfectly.

I'm currently reprinting one of the items I sliced with slicer3d and printing with Ponterface and so far, it's printing perfectly.

Any ideas???

A Mendel Max 1.5 operating on Sprinter firmware. I built this printer almost 2 years ago and it's been flawless for hundreds of prints, most likely over 50 lbs of filament.

In light of the post above, I'm going to unhook and unwrap the wiring harness of my MM1.5 and replace parts of it with shielded cable. The limit switch leads currently are twisted pairs, but they are not shielded or have bypass caps on the leads - I have plenty of what's needed, caps, resistors and shielded twisted pair wire on hand to make these changes and so I'll give it try. It will only take a hour or so to try it.

I have a little over a week to decide if I want to keep S3d, and I really want to give it every chance before returning it. I really like the workflow with it.

Thanks guys, I really am willing to try anything reasonable to make this work right.

There was a known bug with some old firmware versions that would cause this. Most of them have fixed it at this point.

So here's what I would try

• Update to the latest version of Marlin (https://github.com/MarlinFirmware/Marlin/tree/RC/Marlin). It's an improvement over Sprinter, so there's many other reasons to do it, beyond just fixing this bug
• If the problem is still happening after making that change, then post your factory file here, because there's many other people who are using that printer with Marlin. If they can't reproduce your issue on the same printer/firmware, then it may be a hardware issue.

Again, this is a known firmware bug, so I would focus your efforts on updating or changing your firmware so something better
