Windows 10 november 2015 update

I've just found out that along with many other Windows 10 Home users, the November update ( version 1511, 10586) actually didn't install. Good improvements in the upgrade facility.....you don't get told of failure!!!

I'm currently attempting a repeat of the upgrade.....which is currently stalled at "Preparing to install updates 32%"...which others have reported it gets stuck at, but I'm going to leave it to do it's job....as its been noted this upgrade takes many hours...commented as in excess of 12 hours.... to install!

I'll report back if I get any progress....and are able to test if the USB issue is still there or not!

wow damn 12 hours. that person must have pulled their pc out from under a rock. mine did the update in the usual 20-25 min. went through and installed fine. no issues.

I can tell you, been printing for 2 weeks now, and not a single stop printing usb error.
Even with prints that takes 12 hours.

I like Windows 10 upgrade.....not!

The upgrade took around 3 1/2 hours...that is according to the note on the Upgrade page saying when the last update check was carried out!

For info, after such an upgrade, there's no upgrade history to view!!! The only clue appears to be the version number on the "About" tab on the System page!

I can tell you, been printing for 2 weeks now, and not a single stop printing usb error.

Now that's promising!! I'll try out USB printing in the next day or so. I'm currently printing a set of six identical parts that take 3 hours a go.

Don't forget to turn off the energy saving features of your USB ports! Powermanagement > Uncheck allow to turn off devices....

Windows has released a major Windows 10 update on Thursday.
One of the fixes is better connectivity with USB devices.
I wonder if the USB connection problems some people experienced are now gone with this update?

I installed the Win10 update, and it didn't seem to help the problem at all.

A couple of observations on the issue:
1) On the machine control window, hitting "Force Next" will immediately resume the print. I haven't seen it cause any issues with the print itself.

2) The latest version of MakerWare (MakerBot software) seems to have addressed the problem somehow. I know I saw MakerWare having the same issue right after upgrading to Win10, but the problem went away in one of their updates.

I hope that some sort of workaround can be made in Simplify3D... I don't really have a lot of faith that the folks at Microsoft are going to address this any time soon.

I got the same issues with my Flashforge Freator dual. My prints stop on the second or third layer sometimes the printer even gets stuck in preheating. Windows upgrades didn't help. It looks like the problem occurs more often when simplify3d runs in background but I may be wrong about the last observation.

This issues starts to affect my electricity bill

I've finally managed to get time to check out if the upgrade had any effect on print stalling......and it hasn't!

Let's hope we get a fix for this before the contacts wear out on the SD card slot on my printer. If they do, I'm right up a gum tree!!!

Still printing using USB, not one issue with communication occured past month.
Yes, only once, but that was my own fault, windows auto update was on with auto restart option.

I had some major issues connecting a motor dyno in Win10. I've found two ways to cure the problem.

1) Install Windows7 and dual boot. (this is what I did and it works like a champ)
2) There is a cave man workaround that is pretty risky. Risky as in registry changes and running older Win7 usb kernel

Win7 and Win10 actually behave nicely together on my machine. Most of the new BIOS will see the dual operating systems and prompt automatically.
