Default com port?

Windows 10 here. My Makergear M2 lives at Com5. S3D defaults to COM4 (which is where an Arduino board lives) - so every time i start S3D I need to change the com port in the Machine Control Panel. I have looked around but cannot find any settings for the default com port.

Re: Default com port?

Doesn't the MakerGear use one of the Arduino chips for their electronics? If have have a similar Arduino plugged in AS WELL as the M2, the software probably doesn't know which one to pick. Either one could be a 3D printer.

But I think it also remembers the last port you selected. So if it was on COM5 and you restart the software (which COM5 is still plugged in), then it will re-select that port automatically.

That hasn't been the case for me. I have to go into the machine control panel and switch it from COM4 to COM5 every time I start the software.

I don't know what changed, but it's working now. Was out of town for a week and when i came back S3D is opening and connecting on the correct port.
