Extra Restart on First use of Extruder 2

Hi everybody,

I'm just trying to figure out how to correctly preload the support extruder on our dual extruder printer. My goal is to print a part with PLA and PVA as support in extruder 2; if possible without wipe/prime tower. So far everything looks ok, but when the first layer starts printing, it creates all PLA parts, and the very first PVA lines in the first layer don't print correctly because the extra restart distance is obviously not applied when the extruder is used first after starting the print. Can I achieve this somehow? I only want to do this in the first layer, and if possible only on the second extruder, because the PLA prints fine without this. I have configured extra restart globally, which works fine between extruder switches, just not when first using the extruder after starting a print.

Any ideas how to accomplish that with S3D? Btw: are there things like if-statements in the tool change scripts, or something like that?

I currently solve this with a prime tower for the support extruder, but I wouldn't need it except for the first layer...

best regards

I would just make sure your second extruder is properly primed in your starting script. That works well for me on my dual extrusion printers (since then it will be ready to print when needed)

You can either manually edit your starting script to do this, or you can add some skirt outlines and select the "all extruders" option for the skirt extruder (so that each one of the extruders is primed on each outline)
