Remove angled wall support/fill

Hi guys, been looking for a way to remove this extra infill on parts, or a way to change it. It is the fast fill that S3D seems to use to help support walls that angle in or out.
What option controls this? I assume that a setting to disable this must exists as I have not seen anyone complain about it.

This is with infill disabled yet I still have this stiff on the inside of my shells.

Decrease the number of top and bottom solid layers (on the Layer tab). That will fix it.

Re: Remove angled wall support/fill

I had the top layers to 0 and bottom at 5, setting the bottom to 2 will remove all trace of this issue. Setting to to 3 and I will have a tiny bit at the vary bottom, at the 4 bottom layer count is where it looks like the photo above. Above photo was with 5 bottom layers. All tests are with 0% infill.

Is this somehow intended or a bug, I would like to have more then 2 layer for the bottom of the bowl.

In this case my main intent is to create a bowl from a solid object by disabling the top and infill layers. I did try vase mode but I want more then one loop perimeter. That aside I also sometime wish to create a object that I don't need to be really strong, this infill stuff really adds to the plastic cost and print time. A way to have direct control over it would be fantastic.
Also anyone have a name for this inner perimeter infill stuff?

Re: Remove angled wall support/fill

It's just solid fill. If you tell the software you want 5 solid layers, but your perimeters on the following layer are shifted over quite a ways (which happens with steep overhangs), then the software will need to add more solid fill to make sure you truly have 5 bottom solid layers. So it's doing what it's supposed to based on the settings you chose.

Re: Remove angled wall support/fill

Thanks Carl,
I posted this same issue on the Google groups, the running solutions appears to be:
1. Set up a process that will only print the bottom solid layer then set up a 2nd one that has no bottom shell or infill for the top of the model. (thanks to Jetguy for that one)

or

2. The lower the layer height is the less of this fill will be on the model, in my case with 0.1 layer heights I'm able to totally remove it. (thanks Jimc)

Re: Remove angled wall support/fill

yeah i got it to totally disappear at .15 layer height but this will really depend on your extrusion width setting...i think. in any case, in the 100's of models i have sliced with s3d i have only seen this kind of behavior once or twice before.
