Help with Z-axis offset

I bought S3D and have yet to be able to get it working for my 3D home Printer.

I sent an email to S3D, it would seem they do not have phones where they are at since they do not offer any form of talking with a human. The only communication appears to be via email and only one per day at that.

Has anyone else been able to get help from them in a more professional manner, one expected by a company that sells its software. I have received and provided extremely better help on shareware sites that I consult on.

They indicate they support my printer, I select it and I expect the software to connect and print - I should NOT have to do anything unless I want to proceed to the next level of fine tuning. As it is, I did all the research to determine why the software would not connect after not hearing from them for 2 days and now when I try to print, it starts about 1 cm above the platform.

I have followed their instructions and no matter how I adjust the Z-Axis offset - it remains at about 1 cm (I even tried +/- 300mm with no change of original result).

I just want them to back their product - get with it and provide some better help.

Re: Help with Z-axis offset

What printer do you have? Is it a homemade one? What type of Z-endstop do you have on it?

The Z-axis offset will literally shift the coordinates in the gcode file. So it's very easy to open the gcode file in a text editor and verify this. The firmware is then responsible for actually moving to those coordinates. There are some things like firmware virtual endstops and other limits that can prevent this, so perhaps you are running into one of those..

Re: Help with Z-axis offset

I apologize - I neglected to indicate the printer.

I bought a PowerSpec Ultra 3D Printer - I have tried a couple "Free" software as well as the software that came with the printer and none of these have ever had issues with the Z-AXIS.

I am directly connected to the printer with a USB cable.

And the Z-AXIS is only one of many issues I seem to be having - here is just a few more:
* It starts printing prior to the Extruder(s) heating up, as well as the bed.
* It appears to not do a home of the head & bed - it just starts wherever things were left off, and in some cases it tries to go outside of the bounds of the machine because it thinks the head is at one location - I cannot locate a means to get it to HOME before doing anything.
* On occasion I will try a print and nothing happens - it says it is connected, but nothing is taking place - I have to restart the app and printer before it will allow me to try a print (I kind of have a feeling this could be due to the occasional emergency stops I have had to do - hence, this is not a huge concern of mine at this point).

Thanks for any and all help

Re: Help with Z-axis offset

Well if it isn't homing the axes and isn't heating, then I would say you have other problems too!

What profile are you using for the printer? I believe the Powerspec ultra is just a clone of the FlashForge Dreamer. Have you tried the FF Dreamer profile from the S3D config assistant?

Re: Help with Z-axis offset

What about just printing from an SD card? Does the printer support printing from the SD Card. You mentioned it doesn't heat etc. Taking the software out of the picture, does the printer work anyways?
