Support hard to remove

Having issues finding the sweet spot for easily removable supports. I've got the ideal horizontal separation but when I try changing the upper/lower vertical separations to anything greater than 1 then the layer above the support is too high and does not turn out right. Any ideas how to fix this?

Lower your print temp a little. What kind of filament are you printing? Some plastics like petg are inherently sticky and supports can be hard to remove

jimc, logical suggestion. Just what I was thinking. I have two different printers. With one, I'm not experiencing any issues with support removal. It's the other one that is baffling me. I'm Printing at 235C with ABS and yes I know that's high but I tried reducing the temp by 10C and I get layer separation when the print is stressed.

Yeah its a balancing act. You have to find that middle ground that works. Other than temp. 1 layer horizontal gap and a vert sep distance of .5mm there is not much more your going to do. Obviously the higer the suport density the more its going to stick as well

Re: Support hard to remove

The number of layers for vertical separation should probably be a measurement, if you ask me. Try sticking to the .3 - .5mm rule jimc mentioned. So, if you're printing with a layer height of .3 then leave it at 1 layer for the vertical separation. If printing at .25, then try 2 layers for the vertical separation.

Don't be afraid of using dense layers. Try 3 at 70%. Again, you'll need to ensure there's a .3 to .5 separation in vertical and horizontal spacing.
