Start point in concave location

While in general Simplify3D gives much better results compared to Slic3r, there is one problem with S3D - it makes the seam much more visible compared to Slic3r. It would be great if there was a setting to tell S3D to automatically choose start point in a concave location when possible (otherwise put all the start points in one single line closest to the chosen point).

Yes! This is the main thing that Slic3r does better than S3D.

Re: Start point in concave location

If your printer and S3D is perfect adjusted, S3D can create nearly unvisible seams.
No matter where the seam is located, except in corners,
Thanks to coast/wipe function !
Unfortunately Slic3r don't have an adjustable coasting option.

However the concave option would be nice...

Re: Start point in concave location

While you can't specify a start point for a concave face, the start point for a layer can be specified to a XY location. With this feature, the start point of the concave face should be constant... just not specific to the face.

So to print a predictable layer seam, specify middle-back location of the printer as the start point. Then rotate and place the model so the back corner is closest to the middle-back of the printer. This should produce a consistent layer seam along the back corner.

Re: Start point in concave location

Yes, this is the only workaround at the moment.
But much effort and sometimes impossible when printing multiple parts.

The better way would be, to perfect the retract/unretract settings with different speeds proposed here:
