Top and bottom fill

Hey all, for a while now I've given up on using Simplify3D (even though its $$). It just doesn't fill the top and bottom layers very well. When printing the first layer it just looks like it's expecting the extrusion to be _much_ wider than it is (same with some top spots). Other than that, it's a decent slicer...but this "bug" has been here for a while.

Are there ways to deal with this?

Re: Top and bottom fill

Try to up your extrution multiplier a bit and maybe put some more permiters on. I use between 3-5 permiters.

Re: Top and bottom fill

If its on your bottom layer than that has nothing to do with the software. That is all in your z height adjustment. If the lines dont touch you need to bring the bed a little closer to the nozzle. I can see in your pics but i cant tell what that is or how its oriented on the part when its printing. I always get really nice caps sine the 2.0 update. They seemed to fix all that. If your getting it on the top layers then be sure you measure the filament and have that set right then start turning up the multiplier. Only place you should see it get more rough is at the top of a dome. The perimeter are just stepping over too far at the top of a dome to make it really nice. You can print at finer layers with a smaller tip as well. That will handle domed objects with more detail. All your other areas though should be capped real nice if all is tuned really well
