First layer too thin in S3D but not Cura

I recently purchased simplify3d to use for slicing on my ultimaker 2+. However, whenever I start the print, the first layer is incredibly thin, almost as if it is scratching the bed, and is accompannied by weird noises. My settings are set at medium, .15 layer height, first layer at 130%.
Any model sliced in Cura prints just fine. I'm new to simplify3d, so any help would be much appreciated.

Re: First layer too thin in S3D but not Cura

I think the UM2 settings in cura do a really thick first layer. So you might want to try setting your first layer height in S3D to something between 150-200%. If that still doesn't work, then you probably need to adjust the global Z-axis offset (on the G-Code tab).

They have a nice tutorial that explains some of this stuff in more detail if you are interested: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/prin ... t-of-print
