A question.

Hello,

I noticed that I may use this on two computers and that is awesome as I have 1 Linux box for my 3d printer and one Win7 I use to actually slice with. So, I read that I would uninstall it on a pc so that it will deactivate it for that machine but what happens if the machine it is on dies (HDD failure, mobo failure, etc...) or I wipe the hard drive to put a newer version of Linux on it?

Oh, one other question but my new machine coming next week is not a RepRap and I was wondering how well does this talk to Sailfish? I am used to using Pronterface and Marlin so I could set my e-steps, etc... and was wondering if I could do that with Sailfish and S3D? Something like telling it to extrude 100mm of filament at Xmm per second?

Re: A question.

After you login on their site, you can click Devices and it will let you manually reset a device if you have something like a crashed hard drive and can't do it by uninstalling the software. You could also email them if that doesn't work, as I know they've helped sort out other more complicated license issues for others via email (https://www.simplify3d.com/contact-us/)

For your question about Sailfish, yes, the software works fine with those machines as well. You can change all the steps/mm values by going to Tools > Firmware Configuration, X3G tab. It's pretty rare to keep to change from the stock values for each printer (since this should really only be based on the mechanical design of your printer), so if you just want to extrude more, then I would do that with the extrusion multiplier instead (on the Extruders tab). That's much easier and makes more sense that constantly changing your E steps/mm.

Thank you for the response and I would have answered back sooner but this forum did not send me a notification email like my other forums do when someone replies.

Oh, right off the bat I will have to change those values because I am going to a more sane 16t GT2 Pulley for X and Y and a 2 degree pitch Z leadscrew over the 17T and 8 degree pitch versions (why they went to these when these cause dimensional errors I do not know).

This is a user setting that by default is "off". Go to user settings (little person next to logout top RHS). Board preferences>Edit posting defaults>Notify me upon replies by default.
