Re: Version 3.1.0

They literally didn't address one single thing I was hoping for. Not one.

Re: Version 3.1.0

A quick test looks like they dealt with the sparse infill every N layers issue I started a thread on a little while ago. I still have to poke at it a bit to make sure though. Personally (and I do understand this doesn't apply to everyone) I could care less that they support other printers as mine are self built. I can see the value to others, but not for me.

Re: Version 3.1.0

Happy to see at last pre-configured Cube Pro TRIO profiles but only for ABS and PLA? Not even Nylon? I have to test but the main feature of Cube is INF, so........

Re: Version 3.1.0

Having done a comparison of a gcode file from v3.1 with a similar file from v3.0.2, there are a couple of interesting differences...

Firstly, some of the redundant lines that specify moving to the current location with no extrusion are no longer generated.

Secondly, there are slight changes to the gcode for infill and gap filling. I've not yet printed a comparison to see if the printed results differ.

Re: Version 3.1.0

A couple of comments:

Even after 3.1 was released, the update check in 3.0.2 still said that there was no new version. In other words, that is a completely useless function (at least in that version).

Then after downloading and installing 3.1, I noticed that the old version is still present, but all the links in the Start menu has been updated to point to the new version. I think the installer should have offered at least to uninstall the old version. I'm not sure what will happen if one manually uninstalls (from the Control panel) the old version. I'm afraid it might remove some stuff that I want preserved (any sane developer would of course prevent that).

I haven't actually used the new version yet (just started it to see that there are no visible changes), but the changelog is extremely underwhelming. It is very disappointing that they don't address almost any of the numerous issues and feature requests that has been put forth. Why on earth do they even keep those forum sections when they apparently don't care about what people are reporting and requesting?

I'm afraid that Simplify3D is well underway onto it's demise. After almost one year since the last update, to release such a minor update is a mocking of the many users who excpect them to at least keep up with the competing (and FREE) softwares. Unless this version is just meant to tell the users that they are still working, and that a real update will be coming, then I think they are packing up shop and about to leave the building.

But for heavens sake, Simplify3D: PLEASE GIVE US SOME INFORMATION. Throw us a bone. Tell us that we will be getting something more than this sorry excuse for an update.

Re: Version 3.1.0

I'd speculate your software didnt tell you there was an update intentionally. Staggering the update roll out will significantly help the load on the update server(s).

Re: Version 3.1.0

Admittedly I'm a bit sour as none of the updates appear to be features I was hoping for. Really hoping this wasn't the big update we've all been waiting for :(
