My Experience with PolyMax and PolySupport

I've been using Polymaker's PolyMax for a lot of my prints and they print extremely easy and sanding the parts have been a breeze. I ran across a part of my model that is forcing me to generate supports despite how terrible the quality of the model surfaces end up when printed on top of supports. So I gave PolySupport a shot and after 2 adjustments the test print came out great.

The strand you see in one corner of the supports is from PolySupport being droopy in the beginning. But since it is so thin, it didn't affect the shape of the actual model that much. The surface above the supports were much more consistent and smoother than if you were to use PLA because PolyMax allows you to get rid of separation layers that Simplify3D provides for easy support removal. Usually, you want to set this value to 1 because your printer will skip printing 1 layer to create a gap between your model and the support. Because PolySupport already has poor adhesion to PolyMax, I can set separation to 0 layer instead of 1 layer without worrying about the support tightly bonding to the model.

Re: My Experience with PolyMax and PolySupport

I've had good results on a CreatrHS using PolyMax and PolySupport. As you note, for best results set separation layers to zero. I also found that winding dense infill percentage to 90% and setting support infill angles to 0, 60 and 120 degrees helped a great deal.
