Setpoints and processes

Hello,

If I have two process, what does the setpoint in the uppermost process represent? It says LAYER number. Is that the global layer number or the layer number for the beginning of the new process? If I add a setpoint to layer 80 of a process that begins at 60mm, will that layer 80 start from 60mm and move up or will it start at the build platform?

Thanks

Re: Setpoints and processes

It doesn't change whether you're printing 1 process or printing all of them together. So the easiest way to check is to just slice that single process and then use the preview to see what layer you want to make the change at. Then enter that value as the setpoint. You will see that it still maintains that position even if you slice multiple processes at once, which is quite nice so that you don't have to constantly change the value depending on how many processes you use.

Re: Setpoints and processes

I am not sure that answers my question. I just want to know if a setpoint (layer 1) in a process starts at the beginning of that process (first layer of the process) or the beginning of the entire model (1st global layer). No where in S3D does it specify where the first layer of a setpoint uses its reference "layer 1" could mean the first layer of a process or the first layer of the model. I dont know, it is not clear to me.

For instance:

process 1 - bottom
I print this hypothetical part with 0.25mm layers
Process stops at 15mm, I need to change my temperature at 15mm.. I need to go from 220 to 235.

So I start a process 2 at 15mm. when I go to temperature setpoint in process 2, do I put layer 1 at 235 or layer 60 (z=15mm from bed) at 235?

That is my question.

Re: Setpoints and processes

So just to reiterate, here is how to answer it. Click "Prepare to Print" and select only one process. Now change the preview settings to be "by layer" and then look at what layer it says at the bottom of the window. For example, it might say layer 1 to 5 when it is showing those 5 layers. That tells you what layer numbers would be used for those 5 layers. So that's the value to use for the setpoint.

So again, just look at the preview for a single process. It has the answer for you already.
