Kossel Mini default settings

Hi there,

I just bought the program, and I selected Kossel Mini as my printer. I saw that it took 0.5 as the nozzle diameter, but mine is 0.4.
Now my question is: what other settings do I need to change if my nozzle size is different?
For example I saw that the layer height was set to 2.5. and that the extrusion width was set to manual to 0.5
Does that mean that 2.0 as the layer height is good for my printer (on medium) , and 0.4 as the extrusion width manual?
Why is it set to manual anyway by default, is that better?

Thanks for any information!

Re: Kossel Mini default settings

I'm guessing you mean 0.25mm layer height, not 2.5mm!!

But anyways, if you are going to use a different nozzle size, then just set the extrusion width to automatic and then change the nozzle diameter to 0.4mm. That way the software will automatically choose a good extrusion width. If you're new, that's what I would start with.

Also, I think keeping the same default 0.25mm layer height would be fine for a 0.4mm nozzle. Just don't go too far above that. For example, if you print at 0.35mm layer heights, you might start to have trouble.

Re: Kossel Mini default settings

Thank you for your reply! I have tried the automatic and that seems to work fine, but i am still wonderig why it was set to manual with the same size as the nozzle in the kossel mini profile? this seemed weird to me as a default setting, was curious if there was a specific reason for this...?

Re: Kossel Mini default settings

Probably to try to get some better resolution from the printer. A 0.5mm extrusion will have better quality than a 0.65mm extrusion. Either way, it's noting to be alarmed over. Just set it to auto and you're good to go.
