PRotos V3 Dual Extruder Offset and Temperatures

Hi,

I am not able print dual extruders - and after reading through this forum I already learned that offset settings should be done in in FW - so I checked. I am not really good in browsing codes - appreciate if someone could confirm what I found.

Regarding to GerRapRep their firmware should support Dual Extruders and looking in the configuration.h I do find following

// =========================== Configuration for second extruder ========================
#define EXT1_X_OFFSET -2560
#define EXT1_Y_OFFSET 0

and somwhere above

For xy gantry use 2*belt moved!
Overridden if EEPROM activated. */
#define XAXIS_STEPS_PER_MM 80

if I caluclate right this should be 32mm - which is also what I measured.

I am using S3D Version 3.1.0 and created a new dual extruder device using the "other" as Protox V3 which shows up as machine only supports single extruder.

Also uses the Dual Extrusion Wizzard which give me 2 colors in the processes. Temperatures are set at

105C Heatbed
237C Extruder1 (T0)
245C Extruder2 (T1)

Sadly the second extruder never reaches his assigned temperature (in combination with the first), if I just use the E2 as "standalone" it could be heated to what I am setting for it. So E2 is always about 4-7 degrees above E1, independant what E1 is (with the settings above E1 is 236,79C and E2 is 239,82C)

Any ideas please?

Many thanks

Why don't you email the german reprap people about it? They are the ones that develop the firmware, and frankly, it's kind of shocking their printer didn't already have the correct toolhead offsets originally when you got it. That should really have already been configured. So I'd email them and ask (they sell S3D on their site too, so I assume they can give you help with that too: https://shop.germanreprap.com/en/simpli ... ware-cover)

Re: PRotos V3 Dual Extruder Offset and Temperatures

I beleive the offset setting is ok - just wanted to check if my thoughts are right, as its looks in their firmware they calculate with motorsteps/mm instead of (distance) mm.

I am more wondering why the second extruder does not heat up to the requested temperarture and keeps always the same delta to the first. For this I opened yesterday a ticket with them - so expecting their reply hopefully in the next days

Re: PRotos V3 Dual Extruder Offset and Temperatures

Got an reply from GerRepRap regarding the different extruder temperatures, as it looks like it is an error in the firmware where they are not sure where it comes from, but they are investigating into it.

As a workaround pre-heating the second extruder to the preffered temperature and then starting the print via software should resolve it.
