Auto vs. Manual extrusion width?

What are opinions - Pro's and Con's on this setting? Right now I have a .4 nozzle and have the setting at manual .4. on QIDI machine.

Re: Auto vs. Manual extrusion width?

Interesting question. What does technically exactly happens when setting a larger extrusion width? Just more extrusion %?

There's probably a dozen other threads on this forum that answer this same questions, so I won't bother going into too much detail here, but yes, if you increase the extrusion width, it will extrude more plastic. So if you set the width to 0.8mm instead of 0.4mm, it will extrude twice as much plastic assuming your layer height stays constant. This is easily confirmed by just looking at the E-values in your gcode file.

Thanks for the info and my apologies that I had not searched for it yet!

I am struggling to resolve my issue with layer/overall print height and these new extruders!!
