Problem with Simplify3d

I'm having issues using Simplify3d. Sometimes I will have gaps in the item that will be printed. I have attached two pictures, one of the item and one of the item that is ready to be printed. You can see the huge gaps in the print. I have the same issue, but with smaller gaps in other prints. This is ruining my printing experience!

Re: Problem with Simplify3d

It would help if you posted the factory file for the build. That should make it easy to see what is wrong.

Factory file would be helpful, but I'd wager that your model isn't watertight. This comes up a lot, because there's no automated warning and STL is a graphics format that enforces nothing.

I've attached the FF. How do you make it watertight? I have numerous other parts with the same problem!

Thanks All!

Re: Problem with Simplify3d

STLs nee to represent solid parts, so you can't have a ton of open faces or surfaces. The part you posted looks like it was just hacked out of a larger model, so it has a ton of open faces. You can try automated repair like netfabb (https://netfabb.azurewebsites.net/), it might be able to figure out what you're getting at, but the best approach is to close the surfaces properly.

Re: Problem with Simplify3d

Running the shape through the service WILL resolve the problems. I've tried it!

And I also suggest you note the advice I gave on this thread re supports: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5866
