Not getting good prints regardless

I've been wasting at least 100g of my plastic which testing quite a number of settings yet I'm still not satisfied with the top solid finish produced by s3d,

Top solids has some small holes on it.

I'm not sure how to upload the fff file here.

For extra info bout this, my geeetech prusa i3 has been heavily modified with my own motion settings, 0.4mm genuine e3d v6, mk8 direct drive extruder

The fff file is not what is required to assist with your issue. We'll need your factory file. File menu===>Save factory file.

And uploading is so, so simple. Click on "Upload attachment" which is located below the Save/Preview/Submit buttons on the posting page as illustrated here:

They also have a webpage explaining things to try if you're seeing holes in the top layers: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/prin ... top-layers

Re: Not getting good prints regardless

I can't seem to attach directly to the forum uploader, limited to 3mb while my factory file is 4mb only

Also giving link to pictures of my initial tests of slic3r and s3d are here http://share.pho.to/AKhu7

Ignore the chimney part of slic3r prints, I got the setting to achieve almost similar finish to s3d

My aim is to achieve as close to slic3r does with very minimal plastic being laid out to achieve good finish, the core settings like infill/perimeter overlap should be good already and I also think that there are supposed to be a tooltip on each option briefly explaining how it may affect the print and a good base default value as a clue

It's not about under extrusion per se. I always do extrusion calibration and I got them in a way of in perfect multiplier without compromising much of the quality especially in slic3r, too high or too low extrusion are bad, yet they're also key factor in achieving a precision printing

here is the link to the factory file http://www.mediafire.com/file/ggb5pzn41 ... hy.factory
