Multiple Raft Materials??

Hi, first post, first time using Simplify3D!

I have a large model, similar to a bell. The model will be printed using Nylon. However, instead of using .5lbs of nylon per print w/ supports making about 60% of the material usage, id rather use another cheaper material for the supports, like ABS. The problem i've come to realize is that the raft will be nylon, and the ABS will be printed onto the nylon raft, which most likely won't stick...

1) Is there a way to specify the raft width? For example, if the bell edge is printed down, can the raft be limited to just a distance from the bottom most edges of the model, leaving the center of the model with no raft?

2) Can I print a raft in two materials? Nylon for the area where the model will be built from, and ABS for the area where the supports will be built from?

I'm not sure if this is possible, but it sure would be sweet if this was...

Cheers,

Re: Multiple Raft Materials??

Have you tried using a better build surface ? I use PrintinZ skin. This works really good, ABS in particular. Set the first layer height to 90 and width to 120. You can use brims if required. But for most cases you dont need brims.

Have you tried using a brim instead of a raft? most parts, especially those without sharp 90 degree corners don't actually need a raft.
